Issues - Experienced

In the daily activities of operating government many issues arise. Steve feels that his experience in past government operations will allow him to give a voice to the Gallatin residents in Ward 1.

Steve is no stranger to Sumner County politics. He served the people as a County Commissioner from 1990 until 2002. During his tenure he served on every committee in the county government structure, including: planning commission, budget and finance committee, general operations, highway, insurance trust board and delinquent tax committee. For the past 7 years Steve has served as the Administrator of the Sumner County Regional Airport Authority. Through his leadership and positive growth attitude, he has helped the Airport Authority receive in excess of $20,000,000 in grants under his tenure.

With those grants, the airport is constructing a runway extension making our runway a total of 6,300 feet in length. This will allow for both industrial and commercial growth helping our county secure quality corporate headquarters while bringing additional jobs for Sumner County citizens and the city of Gallatin.

In 2008, the Sumner County Regional Airport Authority was named "Governing Body of the Year" among all general aviation airports in the state of Tennessee.
