Steve has been a positive force in the Gallatin area business community from the time he moved here in 1979 as a partner in Volunteer Cable Television, the original cable television provider for Gallatin, Portland, Carthage, and Hartsville. Steve remained a partner in Volunteer Cable until 1984, expanding its operations from Georgia and the Carolinas. He then purchased an interest in Garrott Concrete Products, a family-owned and operated concrete stone manufacturing plant located in Sumner County. Steve became the sole owner in 1987, and incorporated under the name G.C.P., Inc. Under his ownership, G.C.P.'s business has increased several times over and remains a thriving employer of over 20 Sumner County residents. Together, Jane and Steve own J & S Properties, through which they develop residential and commercial property here in Sumner County. Their most recent improvements have come in their purchase and complete renovation of Red River Warehouse, a multi-purpose indoor storage facility in the heart of Gallatin.
